Yoga comes in all shapes and sizes –

Just like we do!

Yin Yoga is a passive and relaxed style where you enter into a pose and hold the posture statically for a longer period of time, allowing the breath to deepen as you develop awareness of sensations unfolding.

Typically there is less movement and effort and fewer poses in the practice.

In Yin we stay closer to the earth and connect to the nurturing effect of being supported and held.

Yin Yoga stimulates the PNS (Para Sympathetic Nervous System) or rest and digest mode.

Why is this important?

It reduces our neurophysiological experience of stress such as blood pressure and heart rate, and influences the Limbic system, where emotions and memories are processed, reducing anxiety.

The body/mind experiences a state of relaxation promoting healing and rejuvenation supporting the return to homeostasis.

And that’s a good thing!
